Meoark
Meoark (Michele Cheng and Hassan Estakhrian) is an intermedia duo. Based around their practice as composers, improvisers, performers, puppeteers, technologists, and storytellers, the duo tells intermedia stories using custom instruments and audio effects, self-built puppets, visuals/projection, and interactive technology. Their work draws inspiration from different genres and cultures of music including funk, rock, experimental, electronic, and film music. They design and build original puppets– from hand puppets, whole-sized puppets, to mask characters.
The duo has performed at Sonorities Festival in Belfast, Int-act Festival in Bangkok, New Music Gathering in Portland, Oregon, Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA) at Stanford University, Harvard University, New York University, and the University of Guelph.
